Well...where to start?
Got a funny to tell you to start off my blog today. We stopped at a truckstop in North Carolina on our way to Georgia to get some dinner. Sat down to order dinner and I ask the waitress what kind of bread the rib eye steak sandwich came on...waitress says " that is the kind of bread...rib eye" I'm like no...that's the kind of steak it is....she argued with me that rib eye was a bread and not a steak...lmao...finally another waitress had to tell her that rib eye was the steak and that it came on a hoagie roll...can u say STUPID...I almost feel sorry for her...just almost...lol.
We delivered in Austell, GA last Monday and boy was it fun. We parked at a paper company in the general area of where we were supposed to be because we couldn't find where we were supposed to be. The next morning we asked the guys that worked at the paper place where the company was and they had no idea either and no one answered the phone at the company either...oh and we had a 7 am appointment and at this point it was 7:30 am.
When all else fails I call Windy...my trainer from back in the day. She looked it up on google maps and it turned out to be someones house and we were delivering to their garage. I thought, holy crap!
Mark drove down there and had to back in off the street, jack knife the truck and try and hit this dock that wasn't made for a big truck. What do these people think when they order shit...lol.
After that fiasco we went to the truckstop to send our bills in and get another load. When I got a load it got canceled and they shut my truck down because I had to do orientation. So, off to the Conyers, GA yard for orientation on Tuesday morning...so we sat all day Monday.
Got done at 1pm on Tuesday and low and behold...no load...again Wednesday...no load...so Thursday morning our Agent Steve comes through with a load loading 320 miles away in Colombia, TN and going to San Antonio, TX for delivery the next morning.
So we drove all day and all night and delivered Friday morning. While we were getting unloaded there was a straight truck there waiting to get in the dock across from us...dude says to me "I can't get in until you move...can you move?" I told him that I would move when they were done unloading me but not before...he got crappy with me and said "Well, how long are they gonna take to unload you cause your holding me up" I'm like "They will be done when their done and I had no clue when that would be" He got mad...lol...to bad so sad.
Got to the Petro in San Antonio after delivering and could not find a load...had 20 people looking for us and still could not get a load because of the holiday. I had an 1/8 of a tank of fuel and it would have cost about $200 to idle truck for 4 days or rent a room for $223 for 4 days...so hotel it was...at least it had cold air and a pool.
Austin has been enjoying Texas..he has played in the pool...fed the ducks...watched a lot of TV and was glad to be out of the truck for a few days. I posted a couple of pictures of his fun.
Tomorrow we will be on the hunt for a load out of here...and this heat and chase the almighty dollar again...gotta earn back the motel money back.
Well...I am gonna watch some American Pickers, everyone have a wonderful Labor Day...wish I was laboring!!!
More adventures later!!!
